The City of Vincennes July 4th Committee is again coordinating this year’s Fourth of July Parade and all area clubs, churches, community groups, civic organizations and individuals are invited to participate in this special event.

This year’s parade theme is “Let Freedom Ring!”  All parade entries should be decorated as colorfully and patriotically as possible to honor our nation’s birthday.  Line-up will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the parade will step off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.  Those entries desiring to be judged in the categories of commercial, non-commercial, performing, color guard and marching should be in their assigned position no later than 4:30 p.m.

The parade route will begin at Second and Hart Streets, then travel to Seventh and Hart, Seventh to Main Street, Main Street to Second Street and Second Street to Broadway Street.  Parade headquarters will be located in the Tade Building on the corner of First and Hart Streets.

Because safety during the parade is of the utmost importance, each entry is strongly encouraged to provide people to walk alongside their float or vehicle if they wish to distribute any type of gifts to parade viewers.

Parade entry forms and instructions are available in City Hall at 201 Vigo Street or an entry form may be downloaded by logging on to the City website on-line at www.vincennes.org.  Completed entry forms can be faxed to 886-3408; emailed to danrav@vincennes.org; mailed to Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum at 201 Vigo Street or delivered to Vincennes City Hall on the corner of 3rd & Vigo.  For more information or to request a Fourth of July parade entry form, please call 882-7285 or stop in City Hall, 201 Vigo Street.  Deadline for entry to participate in the 2012 “July 4th Parade” is noon Friday, June 15th.
