Whole numbers such as these
and oughts so ever present
Force upon us the need to know
and drives us to independence.
A billion here, a trillion there
The meaning is most distressing
For the numbers when added up
Are more than just depressing.
When referenced to monied amounts
And budgets ever straining
Where do we find the dollars now
To match this accounted raving?
What is conceived as good or bad
Depends upon the view of the viewer
And who receives the money flow
And whose ox is thereby skewered.
Each has the right to question now
And make his own decision
As what should or should not be
In this dreamed up Orwelling's vision.
But we must go with the flow
For our ideas not sustaining
So live life the best you can
And cease this constant complaining.
