Evelyn Thais Snyder Evelyn Thais Snyder, 92, of Vincennes, passed away at 1:49 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born May 29, 1917, in Vincennes, to Ed and Rose (Schultz) Fields. Evelyn was a member of Old Cathedral Catholic Church and a graduate of Lincoln High School. She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, traveling and her home in Florida. She was involved in the Old Cathedral Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, Hoosier Homemakers, and made projects for the Knox county Fair for made years. Survivors include her four children, Ed (Dorothy) Thais of Vincennes, Martha (Don) Yochum of Evansville, David (Sue) Thais of Knoxville, TN and Steven Thais of Vincennes; six grandchildren, Pam (Jon) Andrews, Bryan (Kay) Thais and Tyra (Rick) Cleveland all of Vincennes, Debra Vaughan of Chattanooga, TN, Bruce (Marisa) Yochum of Sparks, NV and Susan Yochum of Chattanooga, TN; five great-grandchildren, Ciara Wright, Katlyn Thais, Shadai Vaughan, Blaize Thais and Bryan Andrews; two great-great-grandchildren, Carmen and Cory Wright and sister-in-law, Gladys Fields. Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, Louis B. Thais who passed away December 12, 1957; second husband, John S. Snyder who passed away August 13, 1982 and two brothers, Charles “Chuck” Fields and Marion “Barney” Fields. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 15 at Old Cathedral Catholic Church will Rev. John Schipp and Deacon Don Yochum as celebrants. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM (Vincennes time) at Goodwin Funeral Home 524 Broadway St. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Old Cathedral Stained Glass Window Restoration. Louise Richter Campbell Louise Richter Campbell was born March 11, 1915 to Herman and Anna Buckthal Richter. She passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the New Willow Manor. Louise worked at Crane Naval Depot during WWII, Kixmiller’s Store, Hill’s Department Store and after moving to Arizona, at Campus Drugstore. She moved back to Vincennes in 2001 and resided at Fox Ridge Manor. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Brooks; her second husband, Royce Campbell; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Robert Pepmeier; one grandson; one great-grandson; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jim) Clinkenbeard; six grandsons, Randy (Jan) Pepmeier, Michael Pepmeier, Mark (Ann) Pepmeier, Brian (Karen) Clinkenbeard, Scott (Liz) Clinkenbeard and Rodney (Christine) Clinkenbeard; eleven great- grandchildren; four step great -grandchildren; five great- great- grandchildren and one step great- great grandchild; one very special niece, Glatha Hemme; nieces Phyllis Sweeney, Gayle Perkins and nephews, Marvin, Garland and Joe Richter. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery in Freelandville with Rev. Dr. Kate Lambertson officiating. John Doyle Anderson John Doyle Anderson, 68, of Eddyville, KY and formerly of Vincennes, passed away Monday March 8, 2010, after a brief illness, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. John was born October 1, 1941 in Anderson, IN to Francis and Edna (Wright) Anderson. John spent 31 years as a delivery truck driver in Knox County for United Parcel Service. He also served Knox County for decades as a volunteer firefighter and as Vincennes Township Volunteer Fire Chief. After his retirement from UPS he continued to serve the public as a car salesman for Hudson Ford in Madisonville, KY. He will be remembered for his love for meeting people and making his clients and his co-workers his friends, his whistling and his love for life and people. John lived with his beloved wife of 17 years on Barclay Lake. He loved fishing and time spent with family and friends on the water. He especially loved taking their grandchildren tubing and boating. He enjoyed golfing and travel with family and the “Indiana Group”. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley (Welton) Compton, and a grandson, Jake Anderson. He is survived by: his wife, A. Cindy (Knoth) Anderson of Eddyville, KY, whom he married, November 13, 1993, children: Nikki (Nathan) Cory, Tamra (Tim) Wonning, Brian (Margie) Anderson, all of Vincennes, Kim (Brent) Small of Van Nuys, CA, David (Gina) Littlepage and Angie (Johnny) Prine, both of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Mia, Collin, Raney, and Tessa Cory, Jessi Nowaskie, Drew (Rebecca & Colton), Jordan and Sydney Wonning all of Vincennes, Ali & Isaiah Small of Van Nuys, CA, and Ashley and Austin Litlepage and Alex & Jackson Prine, all of Jacksonville, FL. Brothers: Donald (Marie) Anderson and Jack (Norma) Anderson of Vincennes, Jerry (Jane) Anderson of McCutchanville, IN and Harry (Nancy) Anderson of Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Knoth & Rev. Brent Small officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. D. Irene Harrell D. Irene Harrell, 93, formerly of Monroe City, passed away at 7:08 PM March 9, 2010 in the New Willow Manor. She was born July 8th, 1916 in Jackson County, Indiana to Louis & Fay (Maxwell) Mize. She had worked as a clerk at 3-D and had worked at JC Penny downtown for 10 years. She was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, loved to cook, and enjoyed working in the church. Surviving are her grandchildren, Matt (Jennifer) Hensley, Rusty Hensley, Mark Hensley, Amanda Parman, Clint Harrell, and Martha Small, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Estel Glenn Cooper, second husband, Wade Harrell, a daughter, Linda Godare, a sister, Mabel Holster, and a brother, James Mize. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Eugenuia Santos Eugenuia Santos, 68, of 1201 S. 18th, Vincennes, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at her residence. She was born September 16, 1941 in Leslie County, Kentucky to Ellis & Mahala (Huff) Wells.
Eugenuia had worked at Goodwill in Vincennes and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Surviving is her husband, Clemente Santos, whom she married June 12, 1970, three daughters, Sharon (Tony) K. Brimhall, Catherine (Floyd) McCoy, both of Princeton, and Mary Dobson of Vincennes; brothers, Perry Wells of Vincennes, Curwood Wells of Billet Grove, IL and a sister, Mollie Cox of Vincennes. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tory Sartore, Lisa Sabraw, Mitchell Stroud Jr., Steven McCoy, Clemente McCoy, Jonathan Dobson, Ashley Dobson, Jessica Anthis, and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held noon Friday, March 12, 2010 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Woodhouse officiating. Entombment will follow in the Bicknell Memorial Garden Mausoleum. Sharon Lee (Payne) Coyle Sharon Lee (Payne) Coyle, 56, Edwardsport, died at 3:37 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at her daughter's residence. Born Sept. 19, 1953 in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of Willford Dione and Lillian (Payne) Laranger. Sharon was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, John H. Coyle of Edwardsport, whom she married July 7, 1993; a son, Richard Digiulio of France; four daughters, Melissa Smith of Edwardsport, Stephanie Harrold of Pawtucket, R.I., Toni Ann Potwin of Bicknell and Josephine Riendeau of Pawtucket; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Church of Freelandville, 13673 E. Ind. 58. John Raymond “Pete” Fox John Raymond “Pete” Fox, 59, of Jasonville, IN, died Thursday March 4, 2010 at 7 a.m.at his residence in Jasonville. He was born May 22, 1950 in Vincennes the son of John R. Sr. and Clara Evans Fox. He was a truck driver for over 40 years and he was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He enjoyed playing music, fishing and having fun with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife Linda Fox, children, John Raymond “JR” Fox III, and his wife Jennifer of Princeton, IN, Robert Lee “Bobby” Fox of Vincennes, IN, Jade Fox of Vincennes, IN, 2 step-children, David L. Bussey of Jasonville, IN and Linda Begley of Jasonville, IN. Five brothers, Bill Fox of Bicknell, IN, Steve Fox, and his wife April of Shelburn, IN, Sherman “Red” Fox, and his wife Patty of Shelburn, IN, Kenny Fox, and his wife Cindy of Vincennes, IN and Donnie Reed, and his wife Tina of Vincennes, IN. 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri Lynn Fox, a grandchild, a step-grandchild, his parents, a brother James Fox and two sisters, Sandy Phillippee and Dorothy “Dot” Frye. A celebration of his life will be conducted Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. with Roger Wright officiating. Randy E. Lancaster Randy E. Lancaster, 53, of Vincennes, died Sunday March 7, 2010. He was born February 21, 1957 in Vincennes the son of Randall L. & Myrtle M. Tapley Lancaster. He was a 1976 Lincoln High School graduate and he worked as a group leader for ATS Trimaster. He formerly worked at Mr. Murphy’s and was the manager of Woods Doughnuts for over 10 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and playing pool. He formerly coached YMCA football and basketball, and was a coach of Cub League Baseball. He attended the St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the Moose. He often mowed yards for various people in town. On October 23, 1982, he married Julie Lehmkuhl and they made their lives together for 27 years. He is survived by his wife, Julie Lancaster, their sons, Joseph Randall Lancaster and Thomas Eugene Lancaster of Vincennes, IN, his sisters, Brenda Warner, and her husband Garry of Lawrenceville, IL, Cindy Helderman, and her husband Bruce of Washington, IN, Florence “Fuzz” Boyd, and her husband Charles of Vincennes, IN and Joann Hampton of Vincennes, IN. His mother in law, Helen Lehmkuhl of Winchester, IL also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harvey Lancaster. Funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday March 10, 2010 at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Pastor Nan Dehnke will officiate. He will be laid to rest close to his parents and brother in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Gaye Lynn Slater Gaye Lynn Slater, 68, Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born April 13, 1941, in Knox County, she was the daughter of John and E.Merle (Elliott) Acker. She married Dallas Gene ³Doc² Slater on Oct. 16, 1982, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2005. Survivors include her daughters, Kyla Thompson of Indianapolis and Deena D.(husband, Doug) Willis of Pasadena, Calif.; stepsons, Christopher L. Slater and Dallas Slater Jr.; granddaughter, Jillian Willis; niece, Kim (husband, Bill) Schroeder; nephew, J. Bradley Beard; and father of her children,Donald Leroy Thompson of Vincennes. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, John Donald Thompson and Raymond Leroy Thompson; and sister, Phyllis Acker Beard. Mrs. Slater had formerly resided in Vincennes until moving to Shelby County in 1987. She was the floral manager for Marsh, until retiring in 1994. Mrs.Slater enjoyed visiting with her granddaughter “Jillian,” gardening, cooking and crocheting. She graduated from Bruceville High School in 1949. Mrs.Slater was a member of the Morristown Christian Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., Morristown. Visitation will also be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Fredrick & Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Bruceville Chapel, 618 W. Main St., Bruceville. Roy Charles John Spanger Roy Charles John Spanger, 82, died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Prairie Village in Washington. He was born Aug. 5, 1927 to Carl and Frieda (Snyder) Spanger at the family home place near Westphalia. Roy was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ where he was baptized and confirmed. He was married May 23, 1953 to Gloria (Gadberry) Spanger, who survives. He was a farmer. He attended Westphalia and Edwardsport schools. In March 1951 he was drafted in the Army and served in the 592nd Signal Air Ground Liaison Co. Past memberships include Edwardsport American Legion Post73 and the Edwardsport Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Beverly Payne, Mount Carmel, Ill.; a son, Loy (Reba) Spanger, Bicknell; grandchildren, Lori (Gary) Anderson, Elk Grove Village, Ill., Angela Spanger, Edwardsport, Jamia Payne, Fairfax, Va.,and Kristen Payne, Mount Carmel; stepgrandson, Jared (Marshal) Payne, Ashburn, Va.; great-grandchildren, Noah Jones and Avery Anderson; stepgreat-grandchildren, Olivia and Ryan Payne; and brothers, Arthur and his companion, Alice, and David Spanger. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bruce and Charles; an infant sister, Joan; and a son-in-law, Jim Payne. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem United Church of Christ,13135 N. Salem Road, Westphalia, with Pastor Peter Bortz officiating.
